Faith Hall

By Joan Frances –

As a senior at Katy High School, Faith Hall has achieved personal successes in academics, extracurricular activities and enjoys participating in school events. She has a generous heart and devotes her free time to helping others succeed. With so much to offer her community, Faith is headed for a promising future.

Faith has succeeded in the academic requirements as a Katy High School graduate and is fully prepared for the next chapter of her life. Her favorite teacher was Mrs. Cortney Janicek, her child development teacher her junior year.  Faith said, “Mrs. Janicek always made class fun, and there was never a dull moment. Her class helped me realize my calling to be an elementary school teacher. I want to help kids learn their basic education so they can be successful individuals, go to junior high and high school and to be able to use their skills appropriately. Mrs. Janicek helped me see the value in teaching young students.  She is an amazing lady, and I love her very much!”

One thing Faith treasures most about her high school experience is “the amount of pride that the students have for their Katy Tigers! I absolutely love going to football games in the fall. Pep rallies are so much fun, especially our Black Out Pep Rally when we play Cinco Ranch. All of the schools in the area are very competitive, and the energy during these pep rallies is invigorating and exciting. It makes me so proud to be a part of Katy High School.”

Faith is a talented singer and has been a member of the school choir for the past three years. She sings soprano and attends the University Interscholastic League competition every April with her close friends in the choir. Under the leadership of Director Jake Taylor, the choir has placed first for the past three years. Faith reflected, “Singing brings a smile to others around me. It is universally understood and can touch the soul. Singing can inspire people to express themselves and to forget about the troubles of the day. When the choir is singing in unison, there is a powerful force that makes us all feel uplifted, and we know we are making an impact in this world. I love to make people happy.”

One value that Faith lives by is her namesake: faith. “I attend service at First United Methodist Church of Katy. I firmly believe that my faith in God guides me to be the best possible individual I can be. I enjoy going to church and keeping positive people around me. Hebrews 11:1 says ‘Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.’”

During her free time, Faith loves sharing God’s word through song. She has sung at her church since she was in the first grade.  “I help with the little children’s choir. They are called ‘Wee Joice,’ and they are so cute!  I work with kids that are ages four to six. They are willing to learn, love singing, making new friends and doing crafts. Being a leader for the kids at my church allows me the opportunity to prove God’s love to them. They need to be shown God’s love so they can spread it to their friends at school.”

After graduation, Faith aspires to attend Stephen F Austin or The University of North Texas and will major in education to become an elementary school teacher. Congratulations Faith on your generosity and devotion. Good luck as you continue to make this world a better place to live for everyone.
