Keys to Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU –

“This year, things are going to be different.” Have you said this year after year?  If so, these tips will help you stick to your resolution to be healthier, whether you are new to fitness or a seasoned pro.

Set Goals: Set measurable, realistic goals around nutrition and physical activity.

Get Support: An encouraging environment will give you the tools to achieve your goals.

Think Holistically: Consider goals for mind, body and spirit.

Consult a Physician: If you have concerns about your health and a fitness routine, talk to your doctor.

Try Small Group Training: Find motivation in a group with similar wellness goals.

Stay Active: Participate in 150 minutes per week of moderate activity, achievable 30 minutes a day in five days.

Change Routine: Add intensity, weight training or cardio. Take a class you have never attended, such as Cycling, Zumba® or Bootcamp.

Drink Water: Water carries oxygen throughout the body. You will feel better and more energetic. Plus, water metabolizes stored fat and assists in losing weight!

Hire a Personal Trainer: One-on-one attention may be the step needed to pump up your routine.

Train with a Group: Programs like Boot Camp, Pilates Reformers and High Intensity Training add competition and fun to your workout.

Add Core Training: The core is an essential component to fitness routines. This does not mean just adding crunches! Balance training is a great core discipline.
