Katy’s Cane Island Honored by Where to Retire Magazine

The Katy community of Cane Island has been awarded a Best Neighborhood designation by Where to Retire, the only magazine in America geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions. The award recognizes outstanding master-planned and active-adult communities.

Where to Retire Editor Annette Fuller said Cane Island possesses qualities important to today’s retirees. “This all-ages community attracts many retirees who have settled in to friends and fun. Thirteen neighborhoods are within the larger development, but residents come to Cane Quarter, the gathering spot for one and all,” Fuller said. “The amenity center hosts summer concerts and retirees can cast out for bass from one of the development’s 10 lakes. A multilevel tree house is a popular hangout spot. The development also has an expansive fitness center, a lifestyle coordinator and an on-site greeter, a friendly golden retriever named Hub.”

Retirees also are drawn to The Estates at Cane Island, the community’s exclusive gated section of luxury custom homes featuring half-acre homesites with impressive lakefront views or lush, forested settings.

A Best Neighborhood award winner is featured in each issue of Where to Retire. To be considered, the community has to be actively selling homes and have many or most amenities in place.

To reach Cane Island, take the Cane Island Parkway exit off Interstate 10 minutes west of the Grand Parkway.  Head north for one-half mile on Cane Island Parkway to the community entrance.

Opened in 2015, the carefully planned, 1,200-acre community presents luxury homes from the mid $200s from several award-winning builders.
