Katy Stars –

Happy Father’s Day! We have a great issue for you this month, and I’m so proud of it.  We are highlighting some outstanding Katy fathers who are not only raising amazing children, they are passionate about our community.  They are stellar examples for our youth.  Check out their stories in this issue.

I would like to take this opportunity to mention a few men – my stars – who have meant so much to me during my life –  my stepfather Herman Henry, my two high school football coaches Mike Ortigo and Billy Myers (go Sunset Mighty Lions) and my father in the Lord Doug Stringer of Somebody Cares America. I want to also encourage men to step up and mentor a young man.  Katy ISD has great mentoring program. Coach a little league team or a youth football team. We need men to invest in the lives of young people across our community.

Speaking of stars, check out Chris Hill’s review of a summer blockbuster I am so excited about – Solo:  A Star Wars Story.  Yes, I’m a Star Wars and Star Trek nerd. May the force be with you!

We have so many young people in our community doing great things – our Katy stars.  We have several stories about outstanding young people in Katy. We cover the Katy Lady Cavaliers, a great group of young ladies, another young lady headed to New York City, our High School Hot Shot and the list goes on and on. Have a great summer, drink lots of water and stay safe – and Happy Father’s Day to all of our Katy dads!

Absolutely yours,

Henry Dibrell
