A June Jog Down Memory Lane

This time of year brings back so many memories for me. I can still remember my graduation from high school and crossing that stage in the gym. I remember taking family pictures outside in my cap and gown and knowing that it would be the last time I saw some of my friends and teachers as we all went off in different directions and toward our futures. It was a time of excitement, but there was still that little touch of fear as I stepped out of high school and took a giant leap toward my future in college. Now, I get to watch from a different perspective as my children move toward that same path in the distant future, and I watch from the sidelines as friends and family experience these milestone moments. And again, I have that same mix of excitement and just a touch of fear for what the future holds.

Our absolutely! Katy June issue is bursting with these meaningful moments. In our cover story beginning on page 8, be sure to read all about how Simon Youth Academy is helping kids in Katy graduate in unique and creative ways. Celebrate the successes that our graduate Zoe has achieved, and wish her well on the path to her bright future. I hope as you read all about this fantastic program and amazing staff, you remember that the challenges Zoe has faced haven’t stopped her from graduating and achieving her goals. With Simon Youth Foundation, she found a road map for success with the help of Katy Mills Mall and her great teachers. Her perseverance, love of learning and caring attitude has seen her through, and as a result, she is getting to experience one of life’s greatest achievements. We wish her – and all Class of 2017 graduates – the best and can’t wait to see the places she goes on her next adventure.

Our June edition would not be complete without a little wedding talk and  blushing brides – another one of those milestones that we absolutely want to celebrate with you! We hope you take time this June to enjoy some of our What’s Kickin’ in Katy events, and we hope to see you out and about. Be sure to take some time out to think back on all of the wonderful milestone moments you have had and make a few new ones this summer.

Absolutely! yours,

Liz Johnson
