Most 10-year-old boys spend their days with friends biking, rollerblading and playing video games, and for Katy’s Gavin Warren, he does all of those things that boys his age typically do.  But Warren has another activity that’s a bit unique that takes him away from his Katy home, an activity that he loves: acting.

When Warren and his brother were younger, they saw the Adam Sandler classic Happy Gilmore, and they were hooked. “We both decided that we wanted to pursue acting,” said Warren.  The brothers approached their parents about their desire to act.  “At only seven-years-old, we traveled to Los Angeles where I competed in the International Modeling and Talent Association competition, and I won!  I was awarded ‘Most Sought After Male,’” shared Warren.

After finding his way to the film industry through modeling, today Warren shares his time between multiple cities working on his craft. Whether it’s an audition in Hollywood or filming for months at a time in a city like Atlanta, it’s all hard work.  Warren misses Katy, particularly his friends, his old school and his favorite Katy restaurants, including Yen Hibachi, Snooze, Yai Thai, Local Table and especially Lupe Tortilla. But, he loves the opportunity to travel and pursue his passion for acting, and although he misses Katy, he enjoys “getting to meet and mingle with famous people!”

Warren’s acting career is already quite impressive.  He has most recently starred in the film Backroads with Alex Pettyfer, First Man with Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy, which debuted in theatres in October, and The Descendant, an intense, socially relevant horror-thriller feature film and his first lead role. The Descendant was written by Robert Glickert and Stephen Susco, writers of the blockbuster horror film, The Grudge.

Juggling life between Katy and Hollywood as a 10-year-old means homeschooling for Warren. “Being homeschooled makes traveling and filming simpler,” said Warren, who does an hour of tutoring every morning followed by online school work. After he finishes his academic work, Warren works daily on auditions, but the rest of his days are spent just like any other kid. He plays outside with friends, makes art, plays the piano, does gymnastics, plays soccer or his favorite video game – Fortnite.

While Warren enjoys just being a kid, he has big goals and dreams, especially when it comes to working with some of his favorite actors.  His favorite actors are Adam Sander, The Rock, Kevin Hart and Chris Pratt, and he would love to work with any of them some day.  And while his favorite roles lean towards the more dramatic, he prefers to watch comedies.

This past school year, Warren spent four months out of town shooting movies, two months in Atlanta filming First Man and two months in Los Angeles filming The Descendant, but while traveling, he does miss his home, especially his friends.  Congratulations Gavin on your success! Your hometown is proud of you!
