Exclamation Points!

Mentors and role models who have made positive impacts on the lives of others are an incredible blessing. I speak from experience when I think of those in Katy ISD who have made a difference in the education of my daughters. It’s an appreciation that lasts
a lifetime. There are many exceptional teachers and administrators at Katy ISD, and our cover story this issue is a tribute to those extraordinary individuals.

When I met the Katy High School alumni that we are featuring, I realized that we don’t always have the opportunity to thank those whose guidance has meant the world to us. Brandon Layhew, Scott Fleenor, Rob Caesar, Daniel Lyle, and Paul Johnston were anxious to share their story with Katy and to say thank you to the people who made it their priority to always be there for them and guide them through their youth. To coaches Kent Bruno, Mike Johnston and Gary Joseph: what a proud legacy you have created. Not only have you coached championship teams, you have sent those players out into the world to become champion citizens. This story is really for you.

It only seems fitting that we are featuring another extraordinary product of Katy ISD.

The beautiful and talented Joy Kennedy, a 2007 graduate of Taylor High School, is using her fashion and business experience to help young women on an international scale. I am so amazed at what she has accomplished, and you will be, too. You may want to visit her website www.shoppriya.com and help support her efforts. As we all know, the Katy community is made up of many individuals, businesses, and organizations that deserve our respect and admiration. The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce recently honored some of them at the annual Tribute to Katy Gala. We are featuring them in this issue and offer our congratulations and best wishes for many more years of continued success. Be on the look-out for more exciting features, events and news from absolutely! Katy. We are here every month with a fresh, new issue!

I absolutely! Love Katy!
